terkedu.

Why am I terkedu?

Well, today we had a class with Dr Nik.
I was quite surprised after being given the very first assignment
 on Oleochemical and Petrochemical Industry.

The thing that made me more surprised was the DUE date; November 14.
Well, that's nothing, except for it was right after we come back from semester break.

All I need to do is to sacrifice some of the semester break to complete
the task given or else I'll die.

Wanna know what made me more nervous? There will be test on
November 17, 3 days after the due date for assignment

IDK but I feel kind of nervous. These TWO burdens feels too
BURDENSOME and ONEROUS

Oh God, help me in this.

Jangan Gosok Gigi!

Hi, assalamualaikum!

Selamat pagi semua. Dah mandi gosok gigi belum? Ha, kalau belum, baguslah. Jangan gosok gigi lagi!

The other day when I was doing some reckless blogwalking, I stumbled upon an article regarding Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES). And I was so shocked. I was wondering, betulkah ini? Benarkah ini? Kerana ini hal serius.

Hah? Bahaya? Camne nak mandi kalau takde sabun??

Then I did some reading in the Internet and what I found was quite disappointing. Indeed, this chemical is really hazardous.

Aku pun jadi bingung. Kalau mende tu bahaya, kenapa still manufacturers guna bahan cam tu untuk formulasi produk mereka?

footnote: aku ni macam cakap tak serupa bikin jer. stok syampu aku tu still tak pakai lagi. nak buang membazir. nak pakai cam bahaya. ambivalent jadinya. aah, tak suke ah camni! aku cakap tak suka, tak suka arh! *aik cam kenal je ayat tu*

que sera sera

Whatever will be, will be.

There comes a time whenever I feel that my life is so unfair. I kept asking myself, why is this happening to me? Why is that happening to me? Why isn't this and that and this happen to me instead? I keep ranting about this again and again. All I ever do is whining and frowning and scowling on almost every thing in my life. I just feel unsatisfied.

But then again, it's all about FATE; the fate that has been preordained even before you were born. So you mustn't feel sad or wallow yourself in despair on things that happened in your life coz they happened for reasons. The things must happen and therefore will happen. Whatever will happen, will happen. Whatever will be, will be. It's lumrah alam.

Why you would whine every time you face difficulties? Why don't you say "why am I so blessed?" whenever you get so much blessings and prosperity in life? Nobody would do that right? We only whines on things we despise, things that make we feel uncomfortable. That is what happens to humans and their greed. WE never get contented on what we get. The more we get, the more we crave on it. That is what resulting from unbridled lusts of humanity. Do we realize these peeps??

All in all, we must accept the truth of our life. We mustn't take things for granted. Be grateful bebeh. And be happy in everything in your life.

wanna buy neroli jasmine oil perfume so much right now.

just wanna share

oh my goodness! what's this? what's the dirty black piece of c***??!

if you wanna know, let me introduce you to my synthesized product.

that black substance you saw just now is my activated carbon, synthesized using phosphoric acid. though it looks so black, it has many applications. it is good you know? (whatever la aku nie takde modal nak tulis ape tapi nak tulis jugak so aku tulis la pasal thesis aku)

masa filtration, guna vacuum pump. alas, the effluent looks so black. i had to re-filter it. it took about 2 hours or so. so tiring, but it must be done in order to complete my thesis. way to go Jannah!

our lovely instrument, mr tube furnace that always ponder while looking outside the window pane of FST lab

the window which the fumes coming out from (see that red duct tape? it means this is a very HAZARDOUS area. don't come any closer)

okay now. i gotta go bebeh. so sleepy meepy.

HOT

Kami hanya mampu menghalakan outlet gas ke luar tingkap sahaja instead of using fume hood.

So jangan gatal-gatal nak sentuh dia. Nanti cair tangan tuh.

Hot and fiery tube furnace (unavoidable redundancy)

Nampak sangat tengah posing

Say FURRR-NACE!

Akhir kata, kami sayang tube furnace nie.
Dear tube furnace, dikau inspirasiku (tetibe!)

Okay bebeh bebehku sekalian. Chow.
Nak pegi basuh baju. Esok nak bangun
awal nak bergelumang ngan acid plak kat lab. Huhu.

Salam. Thanks for reading.

"Please respect the bacteria"

Yes. We all must respect bacteria. Sounds funny you say? That was what said by Dr Che Wan last week. And those words have been lingering in my mind for days.  It is actually  a good thing to ponder.

Indeed it is true. Just imagine, because of the small organisms which you can't even see with your naked eyes, you can get sick for weeks or months. See the power of microorganism created by Allah? So don't be riak au takabbur. Don't be so arrogant with whatever it is that you have in your life for you can be defeated easily by those little creatures floating in the air, lurking underground, swimming in the water.

However, bacteria are not all notorious. Many of them are good ones. In fact, those good bacteria have their own contributions, like in fermentation, whose products are essential in our life.

You must start learning to respect yourself, Plankton!

Actually, bacteria is plankton, and plankton is bacteria. Plankton comprises animals, bacteria or plants that live at the sea grounds. When they die, they will be drifted into the sand and mud at the bottom of the sea (bikini bottom maybe?). Sooner, they would be buried deeper and deeper, and due to increase in temperature and pressure which took place in million of years, petroleum will be produced! See the miracle that plankton holds? Amazing, to me.

Just imagine the world without petroleum. There will be no civilization I guess. But sooner or later, the oil reserves worldwide will surely exhaust and we Earthlings must find alternatives to the petroleum as energy source. Coz every thing has its own limitation. There will be time when the oil supplies start to deplete and the era of cheap oil would be nowhere to be found.

Beautiful plankton

patutkah aku stress?

Semalam dan hari ini aku sangat tension. Aku spend dalam dua hari nak synthesize activated carbon guna zinc chloride. First day, after timbang pape yang patut, aku impregnate lah coconut powder ngan solution zinc tu. Biar lam oven semalaman.

Impregnation of coconut shell dalam larutan zinc chloride. Ni adalah step before dehydration (aku dehydrate menda ni untuk 24 jam guna suhu 110 degree celcius). Berani mau celup tangan dalam larutan panas nie? Nehi hey....

After dehydration. Dah jadi macam tar dah.

Esoknya, aku ambik la mende tu dari oven. Pekat. Entah kenapa, aku rasa gaya aku semalam dah macam orang tengah buat coklat plak. Apekejadahnye kau buat coklat dalam makmal kimia? Nak mati ke ape?

Okay. Tengah-tengah duk syok tuang tu, aku baru perasan tak cukup bekas untuk habiskan kesemua pregnant solution yang ala-ala coklat tu. Aku pun menjadi sedikit panik. Ottokaji?

Aku berhenti seketika, berfikir. Camne ngan solution yang tertumpah itu? Perlukah ku kutip? Ah, persetankan aje! Aku pun teruskan je tuang menda alah tu. Then, aku pegi tengok tube furnace, setting yang mana patut. Aku pening. Pening. How am I going to put all the five boats into the tube??? Dahlah mende tu tak berapa nak  panjang sangat. Ottokaji???

Then, aku seal la bukaan tube tuh. Pastu aku set suhu 600 degree, bukak gas nitrogen, bukak air paip biar sejuk sistem tube tu, and run the sample. Phuh. Penat.

Tunggu punyer tunggu, sejam berlalu. Aku pun off kan temperature controller tu. Tunggu tube sejuk jap. Then bila buka, aku amat terkejut. What de?? Boat yang paling terjojol (terkeluar) tu basah  sama macam masa baru masuk. Tergezut la jugak. Apekejadahnya lepas bakar pun same jugak? Baik takyah bakar. Eh, bukan ho liaw. Yang betul-betul terbakar hingga kering. At the same time, ada warna kuning kehijauan sket dalam campuran activated carbon tu.

Penat aku buat last-last tak menjadi pulak. Wuwu. Bukan sahaja tak menjadi, tube furnace pun jadi hitam sangat sebab carbon tu terbakar macam arang! Dahla suhu 600 degree. 600!! ENAM RATUS okay? Habis terbakar kain GOOD MORNING lab tu. Nasib Encik Naza takde. Kalau ada, mampus aku kena sembur sebab buat rosak barang makmal. Huhu.

Dek kerana suhu panas tu tak turun-turun, aku ambik keputusan nak basuh esoknye. Susah nak korek keluar sebab dia da mengeras dek ditinggalkan semalaman. Dekat dua jam aku bertungkus-lumus duk korek deposit hitam tu. Mujur muka aku tak jadi hitam penangan eksperimen sendiri. Jadi merah ade ler, merah padam sebab tension buat menda tu tak siap-siap.

Nasib badan. Dahlah zinc chloride tu corrosive. Patutla tangah aku gatal-gatal je semalam and hari ni. Tulah, sape suh tak bacer MSDS? Kata chemist. Heh *tau malu*. Glove pulak pakai sekejap je coz tangan cepat berpeluh, lama-lama pakai aku jadi kurang selesa lalu aku buang je gelov itu.

Sekarang nie masa makin suntuk. Bulan doblas nie dah nak kena viva. Aku punye part synthesis ni pun tak siap-siap lagi. Leceh.

Korang rasa patutkah aku seteres (ejaan 'hebat' untuk stress)

Aku harap sempat lah nak habiskan semua tu. Barulah aku dapat selesaikan thesis and pegi LI dengan gumbira. HAHAHAHA!

royal water

Hai everybody! Whazzup?

Hm. Hari ni, aku nak bercerita tentang sebuah cerita yang amat menarik. Cerita ni berlaku masa lecture KIMIA PERINDUSTRIAN 2 hari tu and it's about Royal Water.

Anyway ape tu Royal Water? Ce citer, ce citer.

Hari tu kan, masa dalam kelas Industrial Chemistry, Dr Che Wan sangat asyik bercerita pasal Aurum a.k.a Emas a.k.a Gold. Well, if diamond is a woman's best friend, we can say gold is a woman's BFFF. You got what I mean? BFFF? Best friend forever ever, together gether?

Okay, back to the story now. It was interesting when Dr was telling us the stories of the extraction of gold, together with all the processes and what not. And at one point, dekat slide ada terpampang some words yang Dr mintak kitorang surf, and one of them was "Aqua Regia" and I was like, ape tu? Sounds familiar. Adakah ianya Royal Water? Yang macam dalam drama Korea Fugitive; Plan B tu?

Aqua regia or aqua regis is in Latin, which means royal water. It's a type of highly corrosive mixture of acids, fuming yellow or hot solution.

Sometimes we call it nitro-hydrochloric acid.

But, persoalannya di sini, kenapa dinamakan Royal Water? The answer is simple bebeh. It is used to dissolve the so-called royal metals, or noble metals, gold and platinum. Nevertheless, there are some metals that cannot be dissolved by this mixture since they have higher resistance towards acid.  Apa logam-logam tersebut? Ha, itu yang anda perlu cari sendiri. Google lah, apa lagi? Hihi.

Sape cakap tengok citer Korea buang masa? Even bila kita tengok just for fun, at the same time we get to gain new knowledge that is essential for us, chemists. Buang jauh-jauh masuk longkang, iye dop? It depends on us la sebenarnya. Tapi lau asyik tengok tak elok gak. Alamatnya tak siaplah kau punye assignment, thesis, mini projek yang bagai-bagai tu. Time management is important aight?

That's all for today. Gotta go now.

nota kaki: thanks for reading till the end. Kalau rajin silalah komen. Huhu.

BY THE WAY, FUGITIVE; PLAN B ROCKS! I LOIKE!!!!

BANG! BANG! BANG!

let's work it now

Demam thesis

Tajuk thesisku: The Effects of Different Chemical Activating Agents in the Synthesis and Characterizations of Activated Carbon using Coconut Shell

Today we went to the lab to do test run for the tube furnace. Why? We were asked to do so. Actually, we put two different samples, namely zeolite and carbon, simultaneously. Guess what happened? The released gas was quite whitish and its smell was so pungent! Ugh. Disgusting, I said. Then Mr Hassan said, "What's there to be disgusted of? It's your research though," Yes, indeed he really got the point. I really had no ill intention whatsoever but sure it was something really unpleasant for us to inhale the gas every time we work on our thesis.

The result; black and white powder

The workplace

p/s: the time has come for me to start my labworks, amidst those who had already started before me loooooooooooong time ago.

don't be afraid Jannah. you can do it baby! onyonyonyonyonyo...... *tetibe*

E.M.O.

There comes a time when you get so gloomy out of sudden. You may not know what triggers such emotion to emerge. It just happens. You become baffled over your own mood swing. I'm in that kind of situation now. I just feel like curling up in the bed and wallow myself in this sadness. I feel like running away from the madness of this world. The world never gets satisfied of you. The world holds grudges against so many people, including me and you. It is such a cruel world we are in. The milieu makes us compete with each other. All we do day by day is just to impress people around us.That never makes us happy.

guilty pleasure

STEAMBOAT?? Waah~ *anticipation*

Today, we made a very sudden yet brilliant decision to have steamboat for dinner. This is the forth time we had our sumptuous/marvelous/exciting/nail-biting/mouth-watering (just add your own description okay) dinner at the very prominent steamboat eatery. Some may say, "Are you guys never tired of eating steamboat again and again and again??" well all we should say would be, "NO!". Simple right?

Actually the idea came from me (keke). This evening, around 6.30 p.m., when they were discussing on where to go for dinner, I suggested Hajah Maznah's Steamboat at MAEPS coz I like steamboat and so do my other housemates (oh yeah I'm so sure about this). We were very excited to have steamboat you know, even we had went there for so many times already.

You'll never get tired of eating steamboat at MAEPS coz it was so delicious and there are so many types of seafood you can choose from; fish, cuttlefish, prawns, crabs, mussels, cockles etc. Not only it provides seafood, it also has so many types of other side dishes like mushrooms, fish balls, seaweed, noodles, nasi beriani, nasi minyak, fried noodle, rojak buah, and so many others that you have to see yourself so that you will believe what I say dude. So what are you waiting for? Lets get started!

Happiness clearly sparks from their faces

Oh, just so you know, I was indulging in the sweetness and creaminess of chocolate chips-flavoured and mint-flavoured ice cream. They were freaking awesome and I just can't stop eating yaww. Try it and you will never forget the taste. Believe me peeps! *see how fast that hand moving*

My gf-cum-bfffff-cum-yeojachingu-cum-roomate *bagi yang annoyed and dengki kat kitorang tu, sila muntah sekarang* pffft

Farah and Ain seronok!!! tagline ain ialah "seronok" hikhik comel je dia sebut seronok tu. Err wait! See that poor noodle in the plate? That was my fault. I took too much noodle until we didn't get to finish it all. It was so muaks! Pengajaran: Jangan tamak haloba. Membazir amalan syaitoon.

Yeojachingu ngah makan eskrem. Jangan dekat!

Jom kita balik! (dah kenyang boleh la balik)

Kenyang perut suka hati, lain kali boleh la makan steamboat lagi. Yokk makan steamboat lagi yokk? *aku harap korang takkan muntah dengar aku sebut steamboat lagi pasnie*

I ate too much and I guess my stomach is suffering from the guilty pleasure. Well, at first I ate the very scorching seafood from the boiling pot. Then I ate the cold ice-cream *so refreshing*. After that, I sipped the hot teh tarik whose hotness flowed through my throat which eventually settled down in my belly. Next thing I did was gobbling another strips of hot noodles and slurping bowls of scorching tom yam soup. After that, I ate the freezing Ais Kacang taken by Izah. Then I continued another series of devouring the hot food from the boiling soup. The stomach must be very confused right? Yelah, mana taknya, sekejap sejuk, sekejap panas, then sejuk plak. Kesian perutku.

Oh dear tummy, this hungry mummy is very sorry for hurting you so much tonight. Don't throw any tantrums tomorrow okay? Don't go growling just like you did before. I really can't tolerate any diarrhea again. Sorry dear tummy. Love you. Mmuah! *rubbing the bulging tummy*

p/s: already ate 5 pills of ubat pelawas. hope to get well soon bebeyh.

ciao. i wanna sleep dude.
